Animations can draw the attention of the reader very quickly, making a static website can work but adding subtle movement can give off a great effect.
My website only contains a couple of subtle animations but I think it’s more then enough.
This is probably the main animation on my website, my company name. As you open the sight a lightbox appears welcoming you to the site, this takes roughly 1.5 – 2.0 seconds to read and click enter therefore I had to play with the delay time that this animation takes to begin. As you can see I have gone for the simple ‘slide in’ animation, nothing to crazy, just a nice and clean transition into the page.
Here is the tab where you play around with the delay time and duration of the animation, I decided to go for a long 2 seconds of duration so the viewer has enough time to see whats going on, I also clicked ‘animate first time’ so it doesn’t repeat itself every time the page is refreshed.
These social links are my last subtle animation, when you navigate over to the contact page these links emerge from the word ‘contact’ the same way my first animation did but either side of the word, this gives off a good effect and also draws the viewer to the fact that I have social links on my page.
