Anatomy of type

Typography is everywhere, it was introduced In the 13th century, typographers would use single letter tiles to form lettering on walls. This was a popular form used throughout Europe until the metal movable type was invented in the 15th century.

Having the knowledge of type can be very useful when it comes to bespoke designs and specified type designers, therefore I researched the anatomy of type to further understand the types of lettering.

This image shows you every single different aspect to letters and includes a glossary on the right hand side to help you understand which is which, I have previously learnt the anatomy of type but it’s good to give myself an update.
