In this post I will show you a few good examples of modern day layout I found in a couple of different magazine spreads, in my opinion modern layout and style works best when the theme of the spread is based around fashion, cars and solo individuals. I may consider using some of the sharp techniques others use in my own layout.
this is an example of a very minimal, simple spread, the reason I think this is modern is simply the use of text and layout, how that image leaves blank space at the bottom left and the text is very minimal.I think interior design magazines are also very modern, the design of the magazine is usually forced in the direction of clean cut layout and colour, personally I think this is deliberate in order to reflect on the clean houses/interiors featured in the spread. This is an example of a solo individual being used in a minimalistic, modern double page spread, the approach of using black and white forces you to focus on the individual himself, this is a good technique being used and reinforces the theme and reason for the double page spread. All of your focus is based on the target of this magazine. This is my personal favourite out of the magazines I’ve chosen, the angles of the images, layout of text, colour and negative space all come together to create an effective double page spread and cover, photography is a very important aspect of this design and often makes magazine spreads stand out.
Here are a few really good examples of colour and modern design, modern themes and design is used a lot in todays magazines, it doesn’t take a lot to make a spread look clean and sharp, sometimes you can be very minimal and it can take a huge effect.
